Good morning! It's Sunday 19th of May and are heading to the onshore energy farm in mountain Panachaiko Panachaiko is an interesting destination for a daytrip
Although if you want to visit the area easily and safely, you need to pay attention to take the right route We started from Patras downtown and by passing by the University Hospital of Rio, we followed the route that passes through the villages Platani, Argyra, Sella and Pititsa We recommend you to follow the same route because any other route is possible to lead you to an inappropriate road for cars We stopped in Pititsa for a while to drink some fresh water at the springs in a church's court with plane trees Pititsa Square What's our next stop, Aspa? Where are we going to?? PANACHAIKO !! Few meters after Pititsa, here is a sign to the Wind Energy Park
The rest 11 km are dirt road, but the quality is good For more info about our trip, click on the link bellow and read the article in our blog! We are going to conquer the top of Panachaiko mountain! We just arrived at the wind energy farm What can we see here? Here is a huge wind turbine, actually the number 31! And here is the atlas stories team! The wind turbines on the top of Panachaiko consist a wind park with rated power of 48 Mega Watts It covers about 10% percent of Patra's needs for electricity per year and it is used by 25 thousand houses As you can see, except from the wind turbines, there is also a herd! The diameter of their blades are 52 meters their height is about 65 to 85 meters, while their weight is about 120 tons
Except from the energetics, the wind park has also touristic benefits Thousands of tourists use to visit it every year and after the Rion-Antirion bridge it is one of the most photographed areas in Achaia Οur trip was amazing, but it's time to go back!
