Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Part 1

(energetic electronic dance music) – Okay, from the port of Harwich we're gonna load two full sets of wind turbines which is the nacelles blades and the towers And some auxiliary equipment then we're going to sail out to the Wind Farm, ready for installation once we get on location

Round trip should last approximately four to five days, but all that depends on when we have any weather down time To sail from Harwich to the Wind Farm is about three and a half to four hours At The Greater Gabbard Wind Farm the total will be 140 Turbines installed (energetic electronic dance music) So once we arrive on location, we'll position the vessel using dynamic positioning Which means the vessel can independently position itself with no tugs or external assistance

We will jack up to a working height of 24 meters and then using the vessels crane, we will install components one by one starting with the bottom Tower, the Top tower, the Nacelle and then finally we'll install the three Blades All of the lifts that we do are precision lifts so once we're jacked up out of the water we're free of any external influence from the waves Which provides a nice, solid, steady platform for the crane to operate When we're putting the Blades in at the end, it's a very precision lift and we're threading bolts at a height of about 250 foot So, we can't afford to have any motion at all on the Crane
