The local people have chosen the best place to live but now they have been displaced and cannot adapt to their new homes which does not provide sufficient conditions for their livelihoods You cannot set a price on the environmental and social damage caused by hydropower developments It is easy to know how much money 1Kw of power is but you cannot calculate the monetary price of lost culture, customs, forests, and biodiversity You cannot compensate or reverse the damage of what was lost After dam construction, the follow-up process is quite poor We think that local people just need roads, electricity, and schools It is easy to invest in these projects, but who actually uses and benefits? We now after a natural resources and environmental tax and payments for forest environmental services but can this money go to local people whose lives are sacrificed to build hydropower dams? It is unclear… Although in principle hydropower projects have to pay taxes to compensate the damage caused the local people are not treated fairly
